Our first English lesson should be: GET.

Yeah, get is an amazing word. We canʼt think of any word in Portuguese or Chinese like “get”. Pay attention to your day: you get up in the morning, then you get in the shower, you get dressed, you get some coffee and get outside. Youʼre always in a rush because you canʼt get to the office late. So, you get on the bus until itʼs time to get off. You get to a company, where you are supposed to get along with your coworkers and get all the work done. By noon, you probably start getting hungry. At night, you get tired. And, unless youʼre a workaholic, you want to get away from the office and get together with your friends. Repeat after us: GET. English is about get, get, get all the time. Itʼs so basic. We can tell you one word in Portuguese or Chinese for each get we wrote here. And what do you expect from a kid that is brought up hearing get so often? Just imagine parents discussing about their kids. One asks: “What was the first word John said: mommy or daddy?” And then the other answers: “Oh, actually, he said get.” Wow... Maybe this is getting too far.
